Arizona State Wedding License Requirements
All counties in Arizona offer wedding licenses. Each county recognizes the wedding licenses of other counties within the State of Arizona. Maricopa County is the largest county in Arizona and has three locations to obtain a marriage license. These are walk in locations as well as locations that take appointments. The appointments always have preference over those that elect to walk in.
Information for Maricopa County Wedding Licenses can be found at:
https://www.clerkofcourt.maricopa.gov/records/marriage-licenses-passports/marriage-licenses
You can schedule an appointment to apply for a marriage license at one of the following Maricopa County Clerk of the Superior Court locations:
Downtown Customer Service Center – 601 W. Jackson St., Phoenix, AZ 85003
Northeast Regional Court – 18380 N. 40th St., Phoenix, AZ 85032
Northwest Regional Court – 14264 W. Tierra Buena Ln., Surprise, AZ 85374
Southeast Regional Court Center - 222 E Javelina, Mesa, AZ 8521
Both parties must be present to obtain a marriage license. Each individual is required to provide a valid government-issued photo I.D., such as a driver’s license, passport, etc. to show proof of age and confirm identity.
You will receive your marriage license on the same day you apply for the license, and can be married on the same day, if you have made arrangements with a Wedding Officiant of your choice to perform the ceremony. However, you have up to one (1) year from the date the marriage license was issued to get married, as the license expires one (1) year from the date of purchase.
As a result of the coronavirus health emergency, the Clerk of the Superior Court for Maricopa County has made it possible to apply for a marriage license by mail. This reduces the need to come into the office in support of the CDC recommendation for social distancing. NOTE: This service is provided for Arizona residents ONLY.
